Duties

  • Assist with the development of a “glocal” curriculum for medical students as part of the Global Health Program, and its implementation
  • Additionally, coordinate and expand opportunities for medical students and other health professions students in the Refugee Clinic at the Five Rivers Family Health Center, and where possible, to extend health care services into refugee patients’ homes
  • Furthermore, function as a community health advocate with refugee patients to help them access community health and social service resources, navigate systems of care
  • Similarly, serve as a liaison between the Global Health Program, Five Rivers Health Centers, and refugee patients, providing leadership to integrate the needs of each
  • Also, comply with Five Rivers Health Centers’ policies and procedures in completing tasks.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or social/behavioral science or other science field and six months’ experience in a community setting. Or an associate’s degree in a social/behavioral science or other science field and 3 years’ experience in a community setting.
  • Likewise, language skills in refugee population languages such as Swahili and Kinyarwanda.
  • Experience using computer software including Word and electronic databases such as Excel and Access.
  • Also, the ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, with people from a variety of socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Able to handle a variety of assignments.
  • Moreover, he/she must be able to maintain an appropriate degree of confidentiality.
  • Likewise, local travel within the community may be required so must have a valid driver’s license and/or dependable transportation.
  • Furthermore, pass an FBI background check as there may be work with children.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a healthcare field preferred

Working Conditions

  • Normal office environment.
  • Furthermore, some local travel may be required.
