Summary

Big Sandy Community & Technical College is looking for an Instructional Designer.

The Instructional Designer will play an active role in the continued development of high-quality, online learning courses. Also, this position will work with faculty directly from multiple campuses to provide instructional design support, consultation, needs-based training, and guidance for best-practices and quality assurance.. The Instructional Designer must be self-directed, meet deadlines, and work easily within a team and an independent setting.

Duties

• Coordinate with subject matter experts to develop online courses that meet the standards for quality assurance as determined by the BSCTC quality assurance rubric. This standard includes the provision of effective consultation and training, as well as the recommendation of sound learning solutions.
• Also, produce instructional objects, including video, graphics, and interactive media elements using a variety of digital media.
• Develop appropriate and timely training and professional development opportunities for faculty.
• Likewise, plan, direct, implement, and evaluate courses delivered online.
• Similarly, stays current with the latest industry tools and trends in online education and all other duties as assigned

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Education and Instructional Design
2. Moreover, master’s Degree preferred.
3. Also, two years experience.
4. Furthermore, four years experience preferred.

The qualified candidate should possess the following:

• Education – teaching/training experience, particularly online.
• Similarly, strong understanding of adult learning theory and common instructional practices and theories.
• Knowledge of accepted standards for online learning.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Also, demonstrated ability to work in a team.
• Self-directed work with the ability to set and meet internal deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies, particularly through self-teaching.
