Purpose:
- Collaborate with the development, infrastructure and DBA teams to develop/migrate and maintain important application platforms for web servers, application servers, databases and GIS systems
- Also, perform vulnerability analysis, manage the security patches and ensure adherence to the strict Stanford security requirements
- Exert ownership to develop and maintain the local and cloud application platforms,
- Moreover, monitor and analyze resource usage to recommend/develop enhancements to system capabilities and performance.
- Likewise, ensure critical applications are designed and optimized for high availability and disaster recovery.
Duties:
- Play the role of a liaison between system administrators and developers, owning the platform tier for on-premise and cloud solutions
- Also, perform vulnerability analysis, manage the security patches and ensure adherence to the strict Stanford security requirements
- Build, install, configure, analyze, tune, and troubleshoot various application and database platforms to achieve optimum performance levels.
- Troubleshoot complex problems for which the analysis and resolution require extensive knowledge of many diverse system components
- Resolve difficult system problems and provide consultation or training.
- Moreover, monitor and analyze resource usage to recommend/develop enhancements to system capabilities and performance.
- Compare, evaluate, and implement new technologies, and integrate systems into the computing environment.
- Likewise, document systems infrastructure for users, support and consulting personnel, and developers.
- Act as liaison with system administrators, network admins, developers and various departments across campus.
- Furthermore, facilitate vendor relationships.
- Drive scope definition, requirements analysis, functional and technical design, capacity planning and management, application build, product configuration, unit testing, and production deployment of application platforms
- Design highly secure systems that meet or exceed Stanford’s security requirements
- Additionally, enhances, evangelizes, and contributes to DevOps development principles, activities and complex development tasks
- Ensure critical applications are designed and optimized for high availability and disaster recovery.
