Summary:
Trinity University invites applications for the position of the Brown Professor of Professional Practice in Accounting within the School of Business, effective immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Trinity is looking for teachers, leaders, and mentors who can help drive the transformation of accounting education in order to remain highly competitive and relevant in the new economy. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

The incumbent will have the following duties

  • Provide effective practice-oriented instruction, at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, in areas that support and enhance the core pedagogical instruction provided by the tenured and tenure-track faculty. Expected teaching load is the equivalent of four courses per academic semester (twelve credit hours);
  • Primary teaching responsibility will be within the Department of Accounting (e.g., financial accounting), but as an interdisciplinary teaching position, the Brown Professor of Professional Practice may teach in other areas within the School of Business (e.g., finance, management) or within the University (e.g., FYE, ALE);
  • Additionally, assist the Department of Accounting and the School of Business in the development of curricula that is timely, innovative, and congruent with changes in the profession;
  • Furthermore, participate in special projects and activities that advance the achievement of business school and university objectives and promote interdisciplinary engagement;
  • Collaborate with the School of Business dean, faculty, staff and other stakeholders (both internal and external) to achieve department, school and university strategic objectives;
  • Similarly, support program efforts and student success in terms of CPA exam achievements, internship placements, and initial professional placements

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in accounting or a Master’s degree in a closely-related field from an AACSB accredited university (e.g., MBA);
  • Also, demonstrated significant and substantive work experience in accounting, finance, or field related to the teaching areas;
  • Also, the ability to be an effective teacher; and
  • Likewise, demonstrated collegiality, respect, and empathy for the inclusion of diverse stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in accounting, business administration, or a closely related field from an AACSB accredited university;
  • Additionally, active professional certification in accounting or related field (e.g., CPA, CMA, CFE, CFA);
  • Furthermore, demonstrated effectiveness in teaching at a college or university;
  • Executive level experience;
  • Understanding of the Trinity mission and the role of the Department of Accounting within the School of Business and the greater university with an interest in interdisciplinary teaching and engagement;
  • Also, international work experience
