Position Summary:

Direct oversight and responsibility for the success of the Fire Service Technology Basic Technical Certificate (FST BTC) Program. Exercise primary responsibility for the FST BTC program using the IFSAC (International Fire Service Accreditation Congress) and NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) model, standards, and curriculum. Additionally, the program collaborates to meet the needs of fire agencies in the service region and serve their employment needs.

Duties

  • Recruit and interview student candidates to determine qualifications are met to enter the program (e.g., background check and interview) and continue to advise students throughout the program.
  • Takes primary responsibility for retaining students, following established guidelines for contacting students.
  • Also, records student attendance and tracks student outcomes.
  • Likewise, manage student registration and testing.
  • Manage classroom coordination, field, and drill ground training to include securing training sites, providing equipment and training aides while maintaining a high level of student safety and security.
  • Additionally, recruit, develop, evaluate, and schedule IFSAC and NFPA qualified instructors. Review instructor-student evaluations and conduct performance evaluations and report results as needed.
  • Instruct students to IFSAC and NFPA standards as needed in a variety of topics including but not limited to Firefighter I, hazmat awareness and operations, extrication, assisting technical rescue teams, etc.
  • Furthermore, develop program schedules, lesson plans, exams and other measurements needed to determine student level of performance

Minimum Qualifications for Vacancy for Program Coordinator

  • Bachelor’s degree in fire service or related emergency services field preferred.
  • Also, 5 years of experience in fire service or related emergency services field.
  • Established IFSAC and NFPA certified instructor or the ability to earn IFSAC and NFPA teaching certification required.
  • Additionally, proven ability to conduct fire service training and evidence of earned advanced IFSAC and NFPA certificates preferred (Intermediate, Advanced, Master, and/or Executive).
  • Also, experience in program coordination and teaching experience in a fire service approved program preferred.
