Responsibilities

Under the overall supervision of the CMS Executive Secretary, and the direct supervision of the CMS Office – Abu Dhabi Executive Coordinator, the Programme Management Officer as Head of the Raptors MOU Coordinating Unit has the responsibility to:

Promote interest in and mobilize financial and in-kind resources for the Raptors MOU and its associated processes and initiatives by

(a) Developing and executing a communications strategy;

(b) Also, developing and executing a resource mobilization strategy

(c) Likewise, new and deepening existing partnerships with intergovernmental organizations (IGOs), non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and other entities as appropriate;

(d) Also, representing the Raptors MOU in international meetings and conferences;

(e) Additionally, representing the Raptors MOU in meetings and conferences within the United Arab Emirates the Coordinating Unit’s host country.

Qualifications for Vacancy for Program Management Officer

Education

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in biology, ecology, zoology, or environmental studies and/or a field related to species conservation and management. Additionally, first degree, in combination with two (2) years of additional qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Work Experience

Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible professional work experience in the field of species conservation and management or related area, of which up to three (3) years should be made in an international work setting such as an intergovernmental or international conservation organization.

Additionally, experience with avian conservation issues is required.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Furthermore, for the post, candidates must have fluency in English. Working knowledge of French is desirable. Knowledge of Russian or Arabic is desirable.
