Job Summary

The Center for Biostatistics in AIDS Research (CBAR), an organization within the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, is responsible for the design, monitoring, and statistical analysis of clinical trials and observational studies for several major NIH-funded clinical research networks.

Job-Specific Responsibilities

CBAR is looking to hire a Statistical Analyst/Programmer for studies undertaken by the ACTG. This position is responsible for statistical analysis and programming support for clinical trials and observational studies, including all aspects of work from study development through monitoring; interim, primary, and secondary analyses; and dissemination of results

The Statistical Analyst/Programmer will work with study protocol teams to further the infectious diseases research mission of CBAR and collaborating researchers. Under the guidance of a senior statistician/epidemiologist, duties include, but are not limited to, the following: assisting with statistical analysis and programming activities for individual studies and cross-study efforts. Additionally, providing statistical programming solutions and ensuring their efficient implementations under the supervision and consistent with standard operating procedures; helping to determine and develop approaches to technical solutions; producing accurate and reliable results.

Furthermore, maintaining awareness of and familiarity with various risks associated with a study and the impact on the quality of deliverables. Furthermore, managing timelines and scope based on resourcing and priority constraints. Likewise,  building and maintaining effective working relationships with collaborating researchers and study team members.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of related experience; a combination of experience and education may be considered

Additional Qualifications

  • BA, BS in biostatistics or statistics, or similar quantitative field with significant statistical training
  • Experience, or experience through education, related to statistical software, such as SAS, for managing study data, preparing tables and figures for reports, and for statistical analysis
  • Also, knowledge of statistical and/or clinical trials
  • Experience programming in Linux, UNIX, or other high-level programming languages preferred
  • Experience with data cleaning
  • Strong attention to detail, as well as a high level of self-motivation
  • Furthermore, excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Similarly, strong deductive reasoning and organizational skills
