There is an application call for International Consultant Position at WFP in Ethiopia. The consultant will lead on the coordination and consolidation of project proposals and donor reporting, ensuring alignment with donor priorities and guidelines.

Duties

The incumbent will have the following duties

  • Pursuing opportunities for donor engagement, strengthening partnerships, sustaining support and fundraising opportunities.
  • Likewise, lead negotiations for contributions and partnership agreements, in line with internal policies and external regulations, in order to reach advantageous outcomes, such as more flexibility and predictability.
  • Also, contribute to the development of external engagement strategies with the Head of Unit;
  • Likewise, contribute to the management of a portfolio of partnerships, soliciting contributions, providing donor stewardship, and analyzing results, in order to maximize resources raised.
  • Also, provide support to technical units in the Country Office, Regional Bureau and/or Headquarters as required, in order to assist them to effectively mobilize donor resources and to ensure the donor conditions are met and adhered to at different programming levels.
  • Prepare briefs on resourcing outlook for: Country Strategic Plan (CSP) and Country Budget Portfolio (CBP); Country/Regional/Division Directors; the Strategic Program Review Process (s-PRP) and the Electronic Program Review Process (e-PRP); supply chain meetings; and operate as a resourcing focal point in order to ensure that concerns are adequately considered.
  • Additionally, contribute to the development of a donor landscape tool to keep management abreast of main donor priorities.
  • Also, collate and analyze data for the preparation of accurate and timely reporting on donors and programs, to enable informed decision-making and action planning by senior stakeholders.

Requirements for International Consultant Position

Knowledge, Skills, and abilities

  • Ability to translate political positions and agreements into meaningful operational outcomes
  • Also, experience in external engagement with donors, and must have clear understanding of working with WFP partners
  • Similarly, sound understanding of international humanitarian and development concepts, principles with a broad knowledge of best practices, techniques and processes
  • Also, excellent communication and negotiation skills with strong drafting & report writing skills

Education: Advanced University degree in International Relations, International Development, Social & Political Sciences, Development Economics, Poverty Reduction or any other related field or a First University degree with over 10 years of related experience.

Experience: At least six years of postgraduate progressive professional experience in a relevant field of work. Proven three years experience in the development of effective donor relations arrangements, preferably at the international level.

Language: Fluency in oral and written English with an intermediate knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) or Portuguese (one of WFP’s working languages).
