UN is opening a job vacancy for an electrical engineer in the UN interim force in Lebanon, Naqoura.  The Electrical Engineer report directly to Chief Engineering and Facility Maintenance Section.

Responsibilities

The person holding the job is responsible to perform all the required tasks including but not limited to:

• providing supervision of engineering projects related to electrical and mechanical systems, and their preventive maintenance programme in accordance with planned budgets and schedules.
• apply commonly used engineering calculations, practices and precedents in completing portions of larger projects related to the design, construction, or repair of electrical power generation and distribution systems, and other related activities in the field.
• Also, plan and designs specifications for projects.
• Prepare design layout for buildings and facilities.
• Develop scope of works, specifications for electrical as well as mechanical systems contracts.
• Conduct preliminary site investigations to obtain field data
• Develop technical data regarding materials, sizes, dimensions, and quantities and costs to be incorporated in formal specifications.
• Additionally, cooperate with other engineers and mission specialists responsible for related specialized phases
• Conduct investigations to develop improved designs and power-related techniques.
• also, conduct research on the development of new technical systems, and follows development to identify improved methods and equipment
• Analyze project proposals to ensure technical feasibility and if project objectives are attainable within prescribed resources.
• In addition, should produce cost data and estimates on engineering-related requirements of current and planned field missions.

Requirements

• fluent in both written and oral English language.

Qualification

• Advanced university degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• A minimum of five years of experience in electrical/ mechanical engineering or related fields.
• Practical experience in the supervision/monitoring for the implementation of electricity projects .
• In addition, candidate should also have experience in the preparation of tender documents pertaining to the electrical works of new projects.

Desirable experience\knowledge

• Experience in dealing with renewable energy.
• Working experience providing support for the implementation of engineering projects/strategies pertaining to electrical or renewable energies related fields in peacekeeping operations.
• In addition, it is advantageous if you know any other UN official language.
