Duties

  • Enhance data collection and provide data management services for fisheries & marine ecosystems
  • Additionally, data acquisition, management, and dissemination, including processing, auditing, and consolidating data holdings.
  • Also, develop systems, tools, and support services for standardized data collection, management, and reporting.
  • Likewise, provide analyses and advice for evidence-based fisheries management
  • Additionally, the incumbent will provide ecosystem, climate change, biodiversity, marine resource ecology and fisheries assessments, models, and analyses.
  • Similarly, he/she will support capacity development in fisheries and aquaculture among PICTsEnhance capacity development in science, technology, data management, analysis, and advice.
  • Also, he/she will provide, and facilitate access to, fisheries information
  • Also, develop information and knowledge products.

Qualifications for Systems and Data Manager at SPC

  • Postgraduate degree, preferably at a Masters or higher level in Information Technology, or related area with a focus on programming/development.
  • Also, at least five-years demonstrated experience developing and maintaining large-scale relational database management systems using Microsoft Access and SQL Server, or similar programming environments, ideally fishery-related.
  • Additionally, at least 2 years demonstrated experience developing web applications using Microsoft.Net, Angular/JS/C#, or similar frameworks.
  • Also, knowledge of fisheries and experience with fisheries database systems.
  • Furthermore, familiarity with the statistical analysis of fisheries data.
  • Also, experience in the design and maintenance of graphical user interfaces.
  • Likewise, Experience with GIS software.

Language Skills

  • Good communication skills in English or French and a working knowledge of the other language.
  • Interpersonal skills and cultural awareness
  • Also, the candidate should be a team player, with the ability to work in a multicultural and multilingual environment.
  • Likewise, cultural sensitivity and a demonstrated understanding of developing country environments.
  • Also, knowledge of Pacific Island countries and territories is an advantage.
