Description:
Under the overall supervision of the National Project Officer in Zamboanga City, and direct supervision of the Project Engineer, the successful candidates will be responsible and accountable for implementation of construction activities related to IOM’s emergency preparedness and response activities in Provinces of Basilan.
Duties:
- Prepare area specific workplan for the construction of handwashing stations and other needed installations in the target communities, in coordination with contracted Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), non-government organizations (NGOs) and local government units (LGUs), where applicable.
- Also, gather input on, and coordinate, workplans among key stakeholders, such as contracted CSOs, government counterparts and community leaders, under the guidance of the Project Engineer
- Likewise, provide technical input on, and coordination support for, construction activities in assigned Area of Responsibility (AoR) as requested by the Project Engineer and as needed by the contracted CSOs.
- Likewise, coordinate with the Project Engineer and the procurement/logistics team in the Satellite Office on the procurement and delivery of any needed construction materials in target areas.
- Coordinate with local stakeholders, such as government officials or active NGOs, on matters pertaining to IOM construction activities.
- Moreover, ensure technical compliance with IOM regulations for construction of handwashing stations or any other needed installations.
- Additionally, prepare regular progress updates on construction activities to Project Engineer and National Project Officer. Also, indicating construction activity progress, challenges, and corrective recommendations, if any.
- Similarly, undertake duty travel in support of the program
Education
- Completed High School degree from an accredited institution, with six years of relevant professional experience;
- Also, certified Professional Civil or Structural Engineer in the Philippines Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC).
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years work experience in engineering
- Also, experience in WASH construction a distinct advantage;
- Likewise, experience in international humanitarian response and/or inter-agency programs;
- Additionally, experience supervising local construction contractors – working with local or national government agencies and non-government organizations and private sector groups.
