Job Title: GIS/Information Management Coordinator

Duties

The Management Coordinator will do the following duties

  • Locate and identify national and subnational data in support of urban analysis at a range of spatial scales, identifying and addressing information management gaps;
  • Likewise, coordinate and work closely and flexibly with urban analysts, area coordinators and field surveyors to ensure relevance, consistency and quality of data collected, mostly as part of the neighbourhood profile project;
  • Additionally, implement and manage UN-Habitat’s ArcGIS online portal and its associated applications to ensure efficient data collection, analysis, and data dissemination, mostly related to the neighbourhood profile project’s online portal (which includes a geoportal).
  • Also, design, develop and manage on a day-to-day basis the GIS databases, spreadsheets and other data tools;
  • Similarly, document, monitor and where necessary augment the quality of primary and secondary data with regard to accuracy and consistency;
  • Develop and manage digital field surveys, mainly as part of the neighbourhood profile project;
  • Additionally, assist in the training of field surveyors on the technicalities of field data collection, as part of the neighbourhood profile project;
  • Furthermore, ensure that UN-Habitat’s database is always up-to-date with respect to national datasets;
  • Likewise, make recommendations and provide advice on technical information management requirements.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication, planning and organizational skills needed.
  • Similarly, strong analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational and leadership skills.
  • Additionally, the ability to work flexibly and under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • University degree (Bachelor or equivalent) in geography, urban planning, or equivalent/relevant fields, with technical specialization in Geographic Information Systems.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience with a university degree or two (2) years with a graduate degree.
  • Also, proven experience in geographic information compilation and analysis and its related matters.
  • Previous experience in GIS/IM work related to urban profiling is an advantage.
  • Previous experience in a United Nations agency is an advantage.
  • Furthermore, fluent English and Arabic, French is an asset.
