About:

The Department of Field Support (DFS) was a department of the United Nations dedicated to the support of peacekeeping field missions and political field missions. Following the UN Secretary-general’s management reform, it ceased to exist in 31 December 2018.

Responsibilities

The incumbent must have the following responsibilities:

  • Assist in reviewing existing floor plans and gift list; measure and survey floors and record changes,
  • Also, assist in updating database changes to records in Excel/AutoCAD and/ or paper records,
  • Additionally, create a list and organize gifts by floor plans, research files and store in electronic folders.
  • Furthermore, perform other related duties.
  • Likewise, assist in updating Gift database changes for locations and info with Excel in binders or electronic folders.

Speaks and writes clearly and effectively. Likewise, listens to others, correctly interprets messages from others and responds appropriately. Asks questions to clarify, and exhibits interest in having two-way communication.   • Technological Awareness:

Keeps abreast of available technology. Also, understands applicability and limitations of technology to the work of the office. Additionally, actively seeks to apply technology to appropriate tasks. Shows willingness to learn new technology.

Education

To qualify for an internship by the United Nations Headquarters Internship Program, the candidates must meet the following qualificaton:

  • Applicants must be computer literate in standard software applications, including MS Suite (Word, Power Point, Excel). Knowledge of CAFM, Archibus or AutoCAD is a plus.
  • Also, applicants must have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
  • Additionally, the applying candidates must have a demonstrate ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
