Duties

The Policy Officer will have the following duties

  • Development of a wide variety of projects, plans and processes, ensuring alignment with wider programme policies and guidelines.
  • Also, the management of projects to define programmes of considerable size/complexity, ensuring a coordinated approach that complies with WFP standards and procedures.
  • Additionally, development and coordination of data gathering and monitoring systems ensuring that rigorous quality standards are maintained.
  • Furthermore, research and analysis of a range of policy and operational issues to inform the development of policies, programmes, and activities.
  • Preparation of reports on programmes and activities, enabling informed decisions and consistency of information presented to stakeholders.
  • Likewise, liaising with internal and external counterparts to ensure effective collaborations, monitoring of ongoing projects, and highlighting potential risks to project delivery.
  • Development and management of potential partnerships to collaborative work, leading to improved food assistance packages.

Qualifications

Education

Advanced University degree in International Affairs, Economics, Nutrition/Health, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Social Sciences or another field relevant to international development assistance, or First University Degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses.

Years of relevant professional experience:

  • Junior Consultancy: One to three years of relevant professional experience.
  • Likewise, Level I Consultancy: Three to five years of relevant professional experience.
  • Similarly, Level II Consultancy: Six to ten years of relevant professional experience.

Languages

  • Fluency (level C) in English language.
  • Also, Intermediate knowledge (level B) of a second official UN language: Spanish or French are highly desirable.
