Kings College London offers Humanitarian grants to postgraduate candidates with a forced migrant background in UK. King’s College London is dedicated to the advancement of knowledge, learning and understanding in the service of global society. Through strong partnerships and research and teaching excellence, King’s is recognized as a thought-leader on interdisciplinary themes of global significance. King’s provides an internationalized curriculum and student experience which creates global citizens connected to international networks and employable anywhere in the world.

Moreover, King’s College London also offers grants to international students who are forced migrants. For its academic session of 2019/20 Kings College London is offering Dr Monica Malik Bursary for taught masters program. However, this is only a partial grant that covers the tuition fees and living allowance for one year.

Value

Dr Monica Malik Bursary aids postgraduate students with humanitarian background by providing tuition fee as well as living grants. The worth of this grant is £10,000 and covers the students for one year.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Humanitarian postgraduate grants, applicants must:

  • have accepted a firm offer to study at King’s from Sept 2019;
  • Further, be from a forced migrant background (refugee, limited leave to remain, humanitarian protection) as well as be able to evidence this through your Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) or a visa sticker in your passport;
  • Likewise, be undertaking a postgraduate taught programme. However, King’s College London will prefer masters students from the following areas of study:
    • Law
    • Engineering
    • Dentistry
    • Nursing
    • Midwifery
    • Pharmacy
    • Pharmacology
    • Specialist postgraduate training for medical professionals.
  • Moreover, have applied for all eligible support through Student Finance England/Wales/N.Ireland/SAAS and given consent to share this information with King’s;
  • have provided a written personal statement;
  • Also, be willing to provide an end of year report and a letter of thanks to the estate of the donor.

How To Apply

To apply for the postgraduate grants, at first, the applicants must have a status of either a refugee, limited leave to remain or humanitarian protection. Further, they should meet all the other eligibility criteria set by the Kings College London. Next, the applicants will require to fill up the application form. Finally, the applicants must send the application form along with the supporting evidence via email.

Deadline

The Humanitarian Postgraduate grants are available for application until 5pm,26 July, 2019. King’s College will not accept applications arriving after the deadline.
