Applications are now open for the Apila First Impression Award 2020 (win € 4.000). From Apila Ediciones we are committed to illustrators who try to make their way in the world of children’s illustration. That is why we created the First print prize in 2013 aimed at illustrators. Who does not yet have any children’s album published with ISBN (except self-publishing).

That way we want to give the professional opportunity to illustrators who deserve it for their talent and quality. Also,  boost their career with the publication of their first work. The aim of this competition is promoting the production of children’s picture books. Further, give the professional opportunity to illustrators who deserve it for their talent and quality. Also,  boost their career with the publication of their first work in the world of children’s illustration. Apila Ediciones is Edu and Raquel, two professors of the Art Schools of Zaragoza and Superior of Design of Aragon that in 2007 they embark on an editorial adventure to discover that this was the way to create bridges between the teaching of illustration, art and design and the wonderful world of children’s illustration.

  • Contestants must submit the work electronically and the following information to the email address given below.

Eligibility

  • There are no restrictions on the nationality of the participants nor the number of projects.
  • To qualify, It is imperative that the illustrator has never had titles published before (with ISBN) and at the exception of illustrators having self-published (by themselves with ISBN, not through an editorial).
  • The presentations have to be written in Spanish and could be either original tales or adaptations from tales with free copyright.
  • The projects will have to adhere to set dimensions of 24 cm wide by 22 cm tall per page or proportional to it and may not exceed 36 pages (18 double pages) with legal pages and endpapers included, covers aside.
