The Pulitzer Center is opening a new call for rainforest grant applications. They invite journalists, editors, and independent media organizations to submit proposals on Innovative Reporting: Mapping Transparency and Governance on Rainforest Issues.
During this historic election year around the globe, it’s important to take note of how these events may impact the world’s vital rainforests. From the islands of Indonesia to the deep forests in Brazil, there’s a growing need for transparency around the governance of rainforests to combat climate change and protect the life that thrives in the rainforests.
With this in mind, we seek ambitious reporting projects on rainforests that address the intersection of data transparency, governance, deforestation, land-grabbing, and other critical issues in the Amazon, the Congo Basin, and Southeast Asia Proposed projects should amplify local voices and have a strong, credible distribution plan to reach diverse audiences and leverage digital media, social networks, and media partnerships.
This special call is part of our ongoing work under the Rainforest Reporting Grants. If you have extraordinary story ideas that demand attention, we are eager to learn how you can tell them.
Proposed projects should:
Projects may involve: data journalism (in-depth analysis and visualization) and digital, multimedia storytelling (audio, photo essays, video stories, infographics, etc.).
