Call for Submission: GIZ Ghana Art Competition 2025

Applications are open for the GIZ Ghana Art Competition 2025. In celebration of 50 years of Ghana-Germany Technical and Economic Cooperation, GIZ Ghana is inviting passionate Ghana-based creatives to participate in a powerful new Art Competition. This initiative offers a unique opportunity to explore and reflect on the impact of development cooperation through visual storytelling.

Are you a visual artist, filmmaker, photographer, or research-based creative with a strong voice and deep connection to your community? This is your chance to produce bold, personal, and thought-provoking work that ignites conversation and deepens public understanding around development in Ghana.

Competition Theme: Development Cooperation through a Local Lens

Artists are encouraged to explore one or more of the following key themes of German-Ghanaian development collaboration:

• Sustainable Energy, Climate, and Environmental Protection
• Economic Development, Training, and Employment
• Governance and Peace
• Gender and Inclusion

Whether you choose to express your ideas through photography, film, painting, mixed media, or any visual medium—your perspective matters. The focus is on creative, community-rooted storytelling that highlights both the progress and challenges within these themes.

Benefits of GIZ Ghana Art Competition

• Grant Support: Five finalists will be selected by an independent jury and awarded a grant to produce their proposed artwork.
• Creative Freedom: Selected artists may use any medium of their choice that best reflects their concept and community context.
• Public Exposure: Final artworks will be showcased at public events and development-focused gatherings across Ghana.

Eligibility for GIZ Ghana Art Competition

• Open to Ghana-based visual artists, photographers, filmmakers, and researchers;
• Creatives who are passionate about visual storytelling;
• Artists with a strong interest in social impact and development issues;
• Individuals or collectives working within or with Ghanaian communities.
