Data plays a crucial role in today’s society, and over 80% of it has a location connection. While there is a huge amount of public data available, data rendering and display is still a challenge. Large data sets typically require time and expertise to process and interpret, making it nearly impossible for the majority of people to make sense of it.
2019 Here Mapathon: Map Your World challenges you to describe briefly what information you would like to visualize on the future map that could be beneficial for you, your community, the environment or our society at large. Once you are selected, you’ll be guided by mentors to generate map(s) using XYZ Studio. The winning projects will receive up to $10,000 US in cash prizes!

Winners of the Here Mapathon: Map Your World
A panel of jury will decide upon the winners of the 2019 Here Mapathon: Map Your World. The winning project will receive $10,000. Moreover, the judges will select ten winning projects and distribute the lump prize of $20,000 as follows:
- First Prize: $10,000
- Second Prize: $5,000
- Third Prize: $2,500
- 4th to 10th Prize: $200
- Audience price: $1,000
Eligibility for the Here Mapathon: Map Your World
Candidates are eligible for the Here Mapathon: Map Your World if they meet the following requirements:
- Individuals aged eighteen (18) years and/or with full legal capacity at the time of registration. Each individual may participate more than once in the Challenge.
- Moreover, if the participant is a minor, you must provide this authorization signed by a parent or guardian in the name of the minor.
- All the documents that may confirm the Participant’s eligibility may be necessary prior to rewarding any prizes (e.g. identity document)
- However, employees and representatives of the Sponsor and Agorize and their families are not eligible to participate in this challenge.
- This Challenge is void in countries where prohibited or restricted by law.
How to apply for the Here Mapathon: Map Your World
Participants of the Here Mapathon may make their submission via the online portal. During the Challenge, Participants may upload any documents or other materials (such as texts, presentations, videos, etc.) relating to their project to the Challenge website in response and as a solution to the Sponsor’s Challenge (the “Deliverable”).
To be eligible, Deliverables must
- address the specific issue set out in the Brief,
- be in a common digital format, such as DOC, DOCX, PDF, PPT, PPTX, KEY, ODT, MP3, MPEG, MOV, MP4, and
- be in English, and in general terms must comply with these Rules.
Deliverable that is not downloadable or is not in the right format or is incompatible, illegible, or unintelligible will lead to disqualification.
Deadline
Submission for the Here Mapathon: Map Your World is open until 3 November 2019. Submission after the deadline is not eligible for the competition.
