Fully Funded Smart Energy Challenge 2017 in Sweden

The Smart Energy Challenge 2017 dares you to think of alternatives for how to influence others to live more sustainably by reducing energy use. In particular, this competition focuses on sustainable energy that tackles 3 of the 17 United Nations goals: Goal 13: reducing climate change, Goal 12: ensuring sustainable consumption patterns, and Goal 7: establishing reliable energy sources. By implementing new technologies, organising activities, and creating campaigns to increase awareness of the benefits of using energy more efficiently, we can come together to take responsibility and make powerful changes. How will you contribute to the bigger picture to helping planet Earth?

Judging Criteria

• Innovation Strength

Be creative and original with an idea pertaining to sustainable energy in either food, household, travel, or transportation.

• Context

Link your idea to an important local or global problem.

• Societal Value

Find the best way to have a positive impact on society.

The Swedish Institute reserves the right to select the winner based on the contribution which they find most appropriate. Competition rules and prizes may be changed or updated at any time. The jury also reserves the right to not select a winner if there are too few entries that the jury believes fulfil all requirements.

Incomplete entries and entries that do not adhere to all rules may be disqualified. The jury will not provide feedback to participants that do not advance in the competition. The Swedish Institute reserves the right to replace and change the jury at any time and for any reason.

The jury’s decision is final and cannot be appealed.

Awards

The winning ideas will receive an invitation to attend an exclusive two-day event in Stockholm in November 2017, organised by the Social Entrepreneurship Forum. The event includes professional training on how to pitch your idea and study visits to interesting social businesses within sustainable energy.

Winners will meet experts in entrepreneurship and sustainability and get the opportunity to build a valuable network. The cost of travel and accommodation will be covered by the Swedish Institute.

Social Entrepreneurship Forum founded in 2004 and provides a variety of unique programs and services that aim to transform the norms around the way business is done and the private sector composition. Their members and partners work around the world to improve some of the society’s most pressing problems.
