The Future For Nature Award is a prestigious international award that celebrates tangible achievements in protecting wild animal and plant species. The Award provides the winners international recognition, financial support as well as reinforced linkages to an international conservation network. Each year Future For Nature awards 3 young, talented, and ambitious nature conservationists through the Future For Nature Awards.

The Future For Nature Award aims to:

  • Reward as well as fund individuals for their outstanding efforts in the protection of species of wild animals and plants
  • Stimulate Award winners to sustain their dedicated work
  • Help winners to raise their profile, extend their professional network as well as strengthen their funding basis.

Moreover, Future for Nature will provide accommodation as well as travel expenses for the winners to attend the Award Ceremony at  Royal Burgers’ Zoo in Arnhem, the Netherlands.

Future for Nature Award

From all applications, the selection committee will select 6 to 10 nominees. These applicants will provide additional information (written info, photos, information for the FFN website, 5-minutes film). Moreover, the selection committee will select the final three individuals and reward them with  €50,000 each.

Who is eligible for the Future for Nature Award?

Candidates eligible for the Award must meet the following criteria:

  • Candidates must be born on or after the 30th April 1984 and before the 30th of April 2002.
  • Further, the candidates must have achieved a substantial and long-term benefit to the conservation status of one or more animal and/or plant species or for a specific population of one or more animal and/or plant species.
  • Likewise, they should have demonstrated commitment, determination, and passion for conservation work.
  • Candidates should also have demonstrated leadership and entrepreneurship in his/her conservation work.
  • Has been creative and innovative in his/her work.
  • Has demonstrated to be (cost) effective and integer in the conservation work performed.
  • Must be determined to continue his/her conservation work, as the Award aims to stimulate the winner’s future work. It is not an “end of career” prize.
  • Moreover, the candidate is proficient in English so that s/he is able to reach a large audience.

How to apply for the Future for Nature Award?

Candidates applying for the Future for Nature Award must download and complete the application form. Moreover, the candidates will require to send the application via email attachments. Along with the application form, the candidates must also send a copy of the passport or another identification document to verify date of birth.

Deadline

Candidates applying for the Nature Award must submit their application before 15 September 2019.
