Handmade Project competition is open for application for 2019. As part of the new globalization of recent decades, we have learned to appreciate not only certain values and products shared by many civilizations but also values and products expressly linked to the geographical, historical and cultural origins of specific local areas. This competition aims to collect, valorize and exhibit artworks that tell stories of Swiss originality. Originality intended in terms of both methods and content that are more specifically and quintessentially “Swiss”, as well as those that are more ironic, interpretative and disruptive.

The value, practice, and symbolism of HANDMADE have always been a foundational element. Further, it has been shared by the world of fine artisan production and many forms of art and expression. In this competition, HANDMADE refers to two possible approaches and types of works and artworks:

Physical Objects: works, artworks and design artifacts (also a hybrid: hardware/software), all with a significant component of manual craftsmanship and technique.

Digital Products: works that tell stories of manual skills, manual skill processes, and expressions and valorizations of forms of hand craftsmanship

Value

A jury will select the winners for Handmade Project Competition 2019 in both the categories of Physical Object as well as digital products. Further, the winner of each category will receive an award of

•  €15,000 split into three First Awards of €5,000 each for three works
• €3,000 split into three Special Mentions worth €1,000 each for three works

Eligibility

• Entering the competition is free.
• Open to everyone over the age of 18 on the date of registration
• Further, the competition doesn’t limit any type of nationality, profession, education, expertise or other forms of restriction, except for being 18 at the time of participating in the contest.
• Moreover, Participants can present one or more projects.

How To Apply

Candidates must submit their work online. To do so, the candidates should register and create an online account. Only then they may submit their work. While submitting, the first image must comprise the overview of the candidate’s product. Other contents are submittable via a separate .zip  folder (maximum 100MB)

Deadline

Application for the Handmade Project Competition 2019 closes on September 5, 2019. Applicants may make no submission post-deadline.
