The applications for the International Young Eco-Hero Awards for young environmentalists have opened.

Interested candidates can apply before February 28, 2020. Action for Nature(ACN) is a non-profit organization that initiated this award in order to recognize and reward young individuals who have made initiatives and formulated plans to take environmental conservation.

Prizes

The winners of the International Young Eco-Hero Awards 2020 will receive the following advantages

• They will be recognized publicly and have a release in the media press.
• Additionally, they will receive a cash prize of up to $500.
• Furthermore, they will also get a certificate of achievement for making outstanding efforts in order to protect the environment

Eligibility Criteria 

The candidates must meet the following requirements to participate in the International Young Hero Awards

1. The project concerns environmental health, advocacy, research or protection of the natural world.

2. Also, it is an action-based and self-initiated, and not one assigned by a teacher or other adult.

3. Additionally, the project should be close to completion or must have completed within the last year.

4. Also, applicants must be between the ages of 8 and 16 on February 28th in the year of application.

5. Similarly, Science Fair and Scouting Badge projects will only be considered if they include environmental action, educational outreach to others or extended studies beyond the Science Fair and Scouting Badges.

6. The organizers do not accept (a) projects related to domestic or confined animals, (b) compositions or reports.

7. Also, previous winners, immediate relatives of AFN board members, active reading panel members, or judges, may not apply.

8. Furthermore, the organizers accept applications only in English.

JUDGING CRITERIA

The organizers give preference to projects of 2+ years and/or ongoing ones.

The judged according to several criteria, including but not limited to:

• originality

• difficulty

• organization

• length of time devoted to the project

• influencing/educating others

• use of outside resources (e.g. library, experts, media, community leaders)

• degree of success in reaching goals

• the impact on the environment
