The London Group Open (LGO) 2019 calls for entries from visual artists working in any medium. Moreover, the LGO 2019 will be a two-part program at The Cello Factory and 33-34 Cornwall Road, London, SE1 8TJ in Nov/Dec 2019. This will be The London Group’s 84th Open exhibition. Both parts of the exhibition will include works by London Group members and works by non-members selected from open submission. Selected exhibitors will show a maximum of one work. Furthermore, the LGO 2019 will show approximately 120 works in total with a minimum of 60 works by non-members.

London Group Open Prize

Prizes worth over £10,000 in total will be awarded to non-members and include;

  • The President’s Prize of a three-person exhibition at The Cello Factory
  • Ingram Collection Purchase Prize: £2000
  • Victor Kuell Memorial Prize for innovation: £1000
  • Sculpture Prize awarded by Jeff Lowe: £1000
  • JPES Partnership Prize: £1000
  • The Felix & Spear Exhibition Prize, an opportunity to exhibit work in their prestigious gallery.
  • Chelsea Arts Club Trust Stan Smith Award for research and materials for an artist under 35: £750
  • Schauerman Digital Art Prize: £500

Who is eligible for the LGO 2019?

To be eligible for the London Group Open, the artists must meet the requirements which include:

  • Visual artists working in any medium including, painting, sculpture, drawing, print, photography, mixed media, installation, video, sound, digital and performance may submit their artwork.
  • Wall-hung work should not exceed 150cm high x 150cm wide, including the frame. Likewise, Floor-standing or suspended three-dimensional work should have a footprint not exceeding 150cm x 150cm including plinths as well as supports.
  • Further, all artists selected for the exhibition, including those working outside the UK, must arrange for delivery and collection of their work to and from The Cello Factory at the specified days and times.
  • Likewise, Artists must be 18 years of age or over.
  • Works made by more than one artist are eligible but one artist will need to act as the lead artist.
  • The submitted works must have been made since 2017 by the submitting artist.

How to Submit for the London Group Open?

Artists can make a submission by online entry only. Further, the artists can make up to three submissions, although no more than one work per artist if selected, will be eligible for demonstration.

Further, the artists must also pay a non-refundable fee along with the submissions. The artists must pay this fee irrespective of the work being selected.

  • £20 for one submission,
  • £35 for two submissions,
  • £45 for three submissions.

Deadline

The London Group Open will accept entries until 30 August 2019.
