Another anniversary of a unique International Design Competition Model Young Package organized by CZECHDESIGN for the Model Obaly, a.s. company has just started. The international packaging design competition for students and designers celebrates its 23rd anniversary with an attractive theme: Unboxing experience! How do the competitors deal with this theme? Will they come up with a groundbreaking and visionary design? A board of prominent industry professionals will evaluate that.

Model Young Package Competition is the biggest competition of it’s kind in the world and gives its participants an opportunity to compare their designs within an international environment.

Rewards

For the contestants, there are rewards of a total value of 6,200 EUR. Also, they will win a unique opportunity to attend a three-week paid internship at the Model Obaly Innovation Centre for one of the winners.

Unlimited – universities and designers

• First place 2000 EUR
• Second place: 1200 EUR
• Third place: 800 EUR

High Schools – high schools and higher vocational schools

• First place : 1200 EUR
• Second place : 600 EUR
• Third place: 400 EUR

There also special awards:

• Award of the Model Obaly Innovation Centre
• CZECHDESIGN Award

Eligibility

The competition is an international design competition eligible for international, one-round, open and anonymous. Competitors can subscribe to the following categories:

• High schools – Students of secondary schools and colleges
• Unlimited – University students and designers of any age

Participants Model Package will be accepted if they have previously registered via the online registration form.
Moreover, the contestant submits their artwork as a functional model in a measuring scale of 1:1, the work must be a functional prototype, if it is openable, it must be able to open. Further, the model must be made in high quality with consideration of the possibility of representation and exhibition purposes.

However, the competitor must not attach any portfolio to their work, only the packaging will be included in the evaluation. Further, the work submitted only in the form of a sketch on a CD or in a portfolio is excluded from the evaluation.

There is no entry fee Model Young Package International Design Competition. However, participants must pay the costs associated with the artwork and postage. Nor does the Model Package return to the contestants and it remains in the archive of the Promoter.

How To Apply

The competitor registers into the competition via an online form. Here the competitor will fill in the contact details and a description of the artwork submitted. The description of the artwork will be available to the jury for the evaluation.

After successful registration, competitors will receive a code by e-mail. They must write them directly on the work (in the most elegant way) as well as on the envelope or packaging in which they will send their artwork.

Applicants must send their artwork by a delivery service packed in such manner that it will not suffer any damage, therefore in a reasonably large box or envelope where it is secure.

Applicants must submit their artwork at the post office no later than the deadline of the competition

Applicants may also submit their artwork in person, but only on the closing date between 14:00 and 18:00 at the same address.

Deadline

Candidates wishing to apply for the competition should do so before the deadline. The deadline is set as 20 May 2019. Any applications received post deadline are not eligible for the competition.
