The Print Center calls for artists to apply for the 94th ANNUAL International Competition juried. In 2016 The Print Center began its second century of encouraging the growth and understanding of photography and printmaking as vital contemporary arts through exhibitions, publications, and educational programs. An international voice in print, The Print Center presents a wide variety of programs for the public. These include exhibitions, an extensive series of educational programs as well as special events. Also, the Print Center brings the longest running competition for photographs and prints in the country “Annual”. Further, The Print Center Gallery Store, which offers the largest and most diverse selection of contemporary prints and photographs in Philadelphia.
The “ANNUAL” is one of the oldest and most prestigious competitions in the United States. The Print Center “Annual” is particularly focused in highlighting local, national and international artists who utilize photography and printmaking in new and intriguing ways, both in content and process. Any artist using Photography and/or Printmaking as critical components in their work can enter. Moreover, artists whose work pushes the boundaries of traditional photographic and printmaking practices are encouraged to enter.
Charlotte Cotton and Gretchen Wagner are the jourors of the Print Center Annual Interjurorsl Competition. They will select 25 semifinalists. They will further screen these semi-finalists and select 10 finalists who are eligible for the following prize:
Any artist using photography and/or printmaking as critical components in their work can enter. Work submitted must have been completed in the last three years. However, an artist may have only one submission. Further, an artist may submit up to five images in one submission.
Eligible artists may apply for the competition by filling up an online application form. Further, the artists may submit their work (images or videos) as per the description below:
Images: Up to 5 MB/each: jpg, png, gif
Videos: Up to 250 MB/each: mov, wmv, flv, mp4
Artists must label each upload with Title, Date, Medium (e.g. etching, inkjet, gelatin silver, lithograph) and Dimensions (paper size, video duration or installation measurements).
Also, the artists will require to pay an entry fee of $45 to enter the competition.
Applicants must submit their photography, printmaking as well as videos no later than June 14, 2019, 11:59 PM (EST). Likewise, an artist using photography and/or printmaking as critical components in their work may enter. Further, the Print Center encourages artists who push the boundaries of traditional photographic and printmaking.
The Print Center will notify the artists who fall in the selection via email by September 6, 2019.
