Thomson Foundation is accepting the application for the 2019 Young Journalist Award. In its seventh year, the annual journalism award is organized by Thomson Foundation in partnership with the UK Foreign Press Association. Moreover, the competition dedicates to find and inspire ambitious journalists from across the globe. Further, the stories that are revelatory, prompt public debate and have led to, or have the potential to lead to, positive change in society have the potential to win the award.
Young journalists can participate in the Thomson Foundation Award should they meet the following requirements:
To participate in the competition, each entrant should submit a portfolio of three published or broadcast pieces of work. Further, the journalist should have produced the pieces within the 12 months preceding 16th August 2019. Moreover, the entries can be in any format: print, audio, video, multimedia, or a combination of all four. Applicants can also provide URL links to their stories online. Participants can further use a file-transfer application such as Google Drive for scans or PDFs, and for large audio or video files.
Further, the candidates should provide a written statement of no more than 200 words per story. The statement should provide a summary of the content. As well as, it should note any impact it had on public debate in the country of publication or broadcast.
Moreover, the entry procedure for the Thomson Foundation Young Journalist Award requires candidates to submit relevant documentation online.
Thomas Foundation accepts the application for the Young Journalist Award until 16 August 2019. Applications arriving after the deadline are not eligible for the award consideration.
