Details

The purpose of the UNESCO-UNAM Jaime Torres Bodet Prize in Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts is to reward contributions to the development of knowledge and society through art, teaching, and research in social sciences and humanities. Further, it encourages pioneering initiatives that may contribute to the development, diffusion, and consolidation of the values of humanity. Further, the objective of the prize is in conformity with UNESCO‘s policies and is related to the Program of the Organization in the field of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts.

Moreover, UNESCO invites nomination for the UNESCO-UNAM Jaime Torres Bodet Prize in Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts 2019. The Members States, non-governmental organizations maintaining official relations with  UNESCO and active in a field covered by the Prize may submit the nominations.

UNESCO-UNAM Jaime Torres Bodet Prize

A cash reward of US $50,000 is available for the winners which may be divided equally among a maximum of three prizewinners.

Who is eligible for the Jaime Torres Bodet Prize?

To be eligible for the Jamie Torres Bodet Prize, candidates must

  • have made an outstanding contribution to the development of knowledge and society through art; teaching, and research in the social sciences and humanities.
  • Further, nominated candidates may be individuals, group of people or organizations. However, self-nomination is not permissible for the UNESCO-UNAM awards.

Also, for the nomination, candidates will require to answer the following:

  • a description of the candidate’s background and achievements;
  • a summary of the work or the results of the work, publications and other supporting documents of major importance, submitted for consideration
  • a definition of the candidate’s contribution to the Prize’s objectives.

How to apply for the UNESCO-UNAM Jaime Torres Bodet Prize?

To nominate a candidate for the James Torres Bodet Prize, the nominator may send the application file to UNESCO via email. Moreover, the application file should include (a) the nomination form duly completed in English or French; and (b) supporting documentation on the work carried out by the candidate.

Deadline

UNESCO will accept the application for Jaime Torres Bodet Prize until the deadline on July 15, 2019.
