The SDGs lay out a clear vision for a sustainable future, also shaping a new era for business. As part of the Making Global Goals Local Business campaign, each year, the UN Global Compact celebrates a group of SDG Pioneers — business leaders who are doing an exceptional job to advance the Global Goals through the implementation of our Ten Principles on human rights, labor, environment, as well as anti-corruption. Hence, in the spirit of giving young people a seat at the table to build a sustainable future, this year the United Nations Global Compact will focus its search for SDG Pioneers Awards to young professionals aged 35 and under.

Benefits of UN SDG Pioneers

During the United Nations General Assembly week in September 2019, SDG Pioneers will be announced and Celebrated. The SDG Pioneers will receive visibility and recognization for the great work that they have done to advance the Sustainable Development Goals.

Who is eligible to become United Nations SDG Pioneers?

Applicants can nominate themselves or a colleague at their company, or someone they know from another UN Global Compact participating company. Moreover, the nominee should be individuals from a UN Global Compact Participant or Signatory company. Further, the nominee should either work in the company or its subsidiary to be eligible for nomination. Also, the nominees should be young professionals working at any level of UN Global Compact Participant or Signatory company. Nominees should be of age 35 and under.

How to nominate for United Nations SDG Pioneers 2019?

Individuals may apply, or nominate themselves or other exemplary young professionals as SDG Pioneers by completing and submitting the online application form. Moreover, young professionals should meet the criteria for nomination.

Selection process

A multi-stakeholder SDG Pioneers Selection Group will vote on the nominees. The SDG Pioneers Selection Group will consist of representatives from UN Agencies; PRME Champions and civil society representatives from the UN Global Compact Board.

Deadline

The deadline to submit a nomination for the United Nations SDG Pioneers is 12 July 2019.
