Applicants are welcome to apply for the AIEA Annual Conference 2020, USA. The Association of International Education Administrators (AIEA), a membership organization formed in November 1982, is the only association specifically focused on international education leadership. AIEA advances strategic transformational approaches to the internationalization of higher education; empowers those who lead such efforts; convenes global conversation on key issues, and partners with other organizations around the world to develop sustainable and forward-looking perspectives.
AIEA conferences are known for their scope, depth, intimacy, and full participation of senior leaders in the field. The organization has made conscious attempts to integrate leaders from around the world, and in so doing has fostered important dialogues that both complement and transcend national and regional interests in international education.

Conference Theme

Internationalization is no longer an option in our already globally interconnect society. It is imperative for Higher Education Institutions which are educating young people to become global citizens and which are hosting students and faculty from around the world. Further, Internationalization is by definition comprehensive and should cover all dimensions of the mission of higher education institutions. However, the 21st century brings new challenges and we are already witnessing the backlash of globalization. The Academy is more than ever press to prove its transformational role and its impacts on society.

Selection Criteria

Proposals will be review by the Conference Advisory Committee with the following criteria foremost:

  • Relevance to senior leaders in international higher education
  • Connection/Applicability to the conference themes
  • Originality and quality of the proposed session
  • Relevance to both U.S. and international audiences
  • Presence of multiple perspectives
  • Diversity of Presenters (i.e., regional, institutional)
  • Realistic allocation of time, including substantive time for discussion among session participants
  • Substantive issues discussed during the session with time set aside for discussion
  • Background and experience of presenters
    *Highly encouraged to have a diverse group of presenters from higher education institutions and include an SIO from anywhere in the world.
