Details

The Council of Europe welcomes applications from all candidates who fulfill the specific profile of the activities.  irrespective of gender, disability, marital, parental status, racial, ethnic, social origin, color, religion, belief or sexual orientation.

The workshop will explore the current issues in relation to hate speech and human rights. Also, develop the competencies of youth and human rights activists to combat hate speech. Further, with special regard to support Mediterranean youth work and Euro-Arab youth cooperation.

Moreover, In partnership with l’Observatoire National de la Jeunesse (ONJ, Tunisia)and other youth-serving organizations from Europe. Also, the Southern Mediterranean, within the Network on Youth and Global Citizenship.

Furthermore, The Mediterranean University on Youth and Global Citizenship is a framework event. Further, where different youth-led and youth-oriented organizations have the possibility to run their own activities. Within a multilateral cooperation context, which encourages networking, peer education, design of common advocacy strategies and sharing of knowledge and opportunities. Further, As of 2013, the MedUni represents an opportunity to explore the concept of global education and global citizenship, to encourage dialogue between decision-makers and young people, to advocate for youth participation and to empower young people towards their rights and duties.

Benefits

  • Travel costs of participants will be reimbursed after the activity by bank transfer by the Youth Department of the Council of Europe upon the presentation of required invoices, travel documents and tickets
  • A free transfer service from/to Hammamet Airport will also be provided by the Tunisian co-organisers.
  • The Council of Europe will also issue invitation letters for visa purposes when needed.
  • Free of charge at Centre in double/triple rooms with shared bathrooms and Observatoire National de la Jeunesse (ONJ) will also provide full board at the Centre during the activity.

Eligibility

The training workshop will bring together 20 youth leaders and activists involved in activities organised by the Youth Department around the topic of Youth-Peace- Dialogue, more specifically in the No Hate Speech Movement campaigns in Tunisia, Morocco and other countries with an ongoing campaign.

  • Come from Tunisia, Morocco or a member state of the Council of Europe or state signatory of the European Cultural Convention
  • be between 18 to 30 years of age
  •  able to work in French, knowledge of English is an asset
  • Further, be involved in a youth work project related to the No Hate Speech Campaign
  • Share their experiences and ideas
  • be motivated to take a full part in the MedUni, the training, and the Quadrilogue seminar
