The fully funded eMpowering Youth Across ASEAN (EYAA) is a partnership program between Maybank Foundation and ASEAN Foundation. The program aims to alleviate poverty and improve the social and economic well-being of ASEAN communities through youth volunteerism and social innovation. The program, further, encourages youth from all 10 ASEAN member states to leverage their experiences, knowledge and put their project ideas into action and create meaningful change for the local community in the Southeast Asian region. Likewise, it aims to build the capacity of youth in the ASEAN region by providing them with mentorship, regional leadership training, and overseas local community projects.

The program aims to make a sustained and positive impact on ASEAN youth empowerment and ASEAN community-building efforts. More specifically, this program has the objectives to:

  • Promote volunteerism, social innovation, and awareness of ASEAN
  • Create an alternative career path for youths
  • Raise awareness among ASEAN youths on social causes
  • Improve the social and economic well-being of ASEAN communities through social enterprises

Fully Funded eMpowering Youth Across ASEAN Program

Fully Funded eMpowering Youth Across ASEAN Program offers the selected candidates:

  • A fully-funded orientation and capacity building prior to departure to the community project.
  • Return flight ticket from home country to the volunteer location
  • Meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner), and local transport
  • A grant to implement the two weeks overseas local community project

Eligibility for the Fully Funded eMpowering Youth Across ASEAN Program

Candidates eligible for the fully funded eMpowering Youth Across ASEAN Program must meet the following criteria:

  • Age of 19-35 years old by applicant’s next birthday (2020)
  • Citizens of ASEAN Member States
  • Fluency in English, like mentoring, training, and general communication during the program will be in English. Hence, participants must be able to have verbal and written fluency in English.
  • Also, full commitment themselves to one-week regional training from 2 to 9 March 2020 and two weeks overseas volunteering project onfrom1to 17 April 2020

How to apply for the eMpowering Youth Across ASEAN Program?

To apply for the eMpowering Youth Across ASEAN Program, interested candidates must apply online before the deadline.

The ASEAN Foundation will review the applications and will contact the shortlisted candidates. Shortlisted candidates must submit the following documents:

  • Letter of consent from their employers/institution/university and
  • Medical statement (participants mostly will be working in rural areas, they should be able to show that they are in a fit condition to complete the project)
  • Proof of health and life insurance during the 1-week regional leadership training and capacity building, also during the 2 weeks volunteering project

Deadline

The ASEAN Foundation accepts the application for the Fully Funded eMpowering Youth Across until the deadline on 30 November 2019. Applications arriving after the deadline are ineligible for the program.
