The Salzburg Global Forum for Young Cultural Innovators empowers rising talents in the creative sector to drive social, economic and urban change. Launched in 2014, it is building a global network of 500 competitively-selected changemakers in “hub” communities who design collaborative projects, build skills, gain mentors, and connect to upcoming innovators in their cities and countries.

The YCI Forum offers an opportunity for participants to be part of an intensive program taking place at Schloss Leopoldskron in Salzburg, Austria, from October 22 to 27, 2019. Combining theory and practice, with keynote presentations focusing on “big picture” issues facing the cultural sector and with skills-building sessions on entrepreneurial thinking; human-centered design processes; strategic planning and organizational development; and leadership and values.

Fully Funded Salzburg Global Forum

Few fully funded scholarships are available for the Salzburg Global Forum for Young Cultural Innovators. However, the candidates should demonstrate the need for scholarship while also demonstrating their competence for the Forum.

Who is eligible for the Salzburg Global Forum for Young Cultural Innovators?

Participants eligible for the Young Cultural Innovators should demonstrate the following characteristics:

  • Be 25–35 years of age.
  • Be proficient in English, the working language of the Forum.
  • Further, have at least 2–3 years of professional experience in the arts and culture sector.
  • Want to become an active member of the YCI global network, as well as be prepared to commit time, energy, and resources to sustain this.
  • Likewise, aim to create social change and strengthen the position of the arts and cultural institutions within your community.
  • Furthermore, demonstrate creativity in approach to work, openness to innovation and risk-taking, action-orientation, and entrepreneurial inclination.
  • Have a cross-sectoral approach to work as well as demonstrate an interest in building cross-sectoral alliances/partnerships beyond the cultural sector.
  • Exhibit passion, enthusiasm, and leadership potential with prizes, awards, recommendations, citations confirming this.

How to apply for the Salzburg Global Forum for Young Cultural Innovators?

Candidates can participate for the Salzburg Global Forum for Young Cultural Innovators by completing and submitting the online application form. Along with the application, the applicants must also submit:

  • A brief bio (sample on the application form).
  • Likewise, a headshot photo of yourself.
  • A CV/Resume including name as well as the email address of 2 references.
  • A personal statement (approx. 500 words) detailing:
    • Your motivation for applying to the Young Cultural Innovators Forum; A description of the biggest issue facing you in your work;
    • Likewise, what you will contribute to the local and global YCI network;
    • How your participation will have an impact on your local community.

Deadline

Candidates must apply for the Salzburg Global Forum until 09 September 2019. Applications arriving after the deadline are not eligible for participation.
