Applications are open for the WRI/EJN Environmental Data Journalism Workshop 2019. To help journalists and decision-makers find, visualize and share the best available data on the environment. Also, human development, the World Resources Institute (WRI) created Resource Watch. On this platform, you can find data and maps on deforestation, coral reef bleaching, coastal flooding, crops, fishing, fires. Also, other natural disasters, population numbers, oil spills, air quality, poverty, power plants, human migration and much more. You can then overlay them to see interconnections between the issues – all for free.
In partnership with Internews’ Earth Journalism Network (EJN), Resource Watch is coming to Jakarta to train journalists. Further, on how to use the Resource Watch platform, showcase tools and tips for data analysis. Also, to reveal best practices for working with open data and highlight the value of incorporating data into stories. Workshop participants will have the ability to apply for funding to produce data-driven narrative stories using the tools and data available on Resource Watch.
