Application Call For Benjamin Franklin Summer Institute 2020. Benjamin Franklin Summer Institute- at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana- calls for application. Apply before 10th February  2020, if interested in learning about diplomacy, exploring global issues, community activism, and American culture.

Eligibility

  • The students must be 16, 17, or 18 years of age at the start of the program to apply to the Benjamin Franklin Summer Institute.
  • They must have Swiss Nationality or hold a C-permit (American citizens and dual Swiss-American citizens are not eligible to apply)
  • In addition, they must be proficient in English, as demonstrated in a personal interview or by the results of a standardized test
  •  They  must indicate a serious interest in learning about the United States
  • Students must  commit to enrolling in high school or university in their home countries in fall 2020, following completion of the institute
  •  Similarly, they should also demonstrate strong leadership potential and interest in transatlantic relations and diplomacy
  •  Applicants should indicate a serious interest in learning about the United States
  •  Furthermore, they should showcase a high level of academic achievement, as indicated by academic grades, awards, and teacher recommendations
  • They should demonstrate the commitment to community and extracurricular activities.
  • Also, they must have had little or no prior U.S. study or travel experience in the United States
  • Additionally, they should be mature, responsible, independent, confident, open-minded, tolerant, thoughtful and inquisitive

To Apply

  •  To enroll in the Benjamin Franklin Institute, the student must submit a letter of motivation.
  • Also, a recommendation letter from the main teacher and/or an English teacher
  • Along with that, the university requires a complete application form

Candidate Profile

Nominees should have a strong interest in learning more about diplomacy, the transatlantic relationship,  and so on. In addition to that, they should have the academic aptitude for a program of this nature and personal qualities needed to be successful participants. They must exhibit serious interest in pursuing leadership opportunities in their home countries. Consequently, selected participants will travel to the United States on J-1 visas under the International Visitor government designation held by ECA’s Youth Programs Division (ECA/PE/C/PY), which will issue the DS-2019 forms.
