Commonwealth Writers invites emerging filmmakers and screenwriters from all over the world to participate in the Fully Funded Caribbean Voices Workshop that is going to held in May at Antigua and Barbuda. The program offers innovative platforms for writer-directors, or writer and director teams to spend their week gaining exposure and also learning about filmmaking and screenwriting from the recognized local filmmakers. Moreover, this is the craft development opportunities for early-career filmmakers and screenwriters from Commonwealth Foundation member states in the Caribbean.

Eligibilities 

• Applicants must be at least the legal age of 21 and should be the citizen of one of the following countries: Antigua and Barbuda; The Bahamas; Barbados; Belize; Dominica; Grenada; Guyana; Jamaica; Saint Lucia; Saint Vincent and the Grenadines; and Trinidad and Tobago. Applicants must also reside in the region.
• Applicants must be a film school graduate or should have working experience in film.
• Similarly, the applicant must demonstrate their experience by providing a sample of a previously written film script and a director’s reel or short film.
• Furthermore, applicants must have passports and any appropriate travel documents and/or requirements necessary to travel to Antigua and Barbuda.

Fundings

The Caribbean Voices Workshop for Filmmakers and Screenwriters is a Fully Funded opportunity where filmmakers will also be eligible to apply for the £8000 bursaries short 10-15 minute film to show at local and international film festivals. In addition to that, the organizers will cover the following expenses where applicable

• Cost of an economy return flight from eligible member state where the applicants live. But candidates must cover travel expenses from and to airport by themselves.
• Food and accommodation during the workshop period.

Application Process

Interested candidates must submit an online application form to apply for this a fully funded workshop for filmmakers and screenwriters. However, the participating writer-directors and writer and director teams applying will need to have a clear idea of the short film they would like to develop and make.

• Workshop days: 18-24 May 2020
• Bursaries offered between July 2020 and January 2021
• Films completed by 30 June 2021
