Details

Fully Funded Hansen Summer Exchange Program fellowship is an opportunity for international and U.S. students to build leadership skills and better cultural understanding to help form a more peaceful future. Fellows receive hands-on training in team-building, public speaking, negotiation, mediation as well as working together to solve international problems. Leadership training includes meeting with political and business leaders to learn real-world skills and how to implement these skills at home after the program. The program is located in San Diego, CA and open to international and U.S. undergraduate and master’s students aged 20-25.

Fully Funded Hansen Summer Exchange Program 2020

The Hansen Summer Institute is fully funded by the Fred J. Hansen Foundation. This includes international airfare, room and board, and all programmatic costs. If selected,  the only cost incurred to participants will be the fees to obtain a passport and personal costs.

Eligibility for the Hansen Summer Exchange Program

Fred J Hansen Summer Exchange Program considers a candidate eligible who has demonstrated leadership potential by working outside of class in community service, another public service, or in a non-governmental organization. Further, the candidates of the fully funded Hansen Summer Institute should have a profile that aligns with:

  • Upper-division undergraduate with 2 years of college/university or graduate student with a professional interest in international relations, diplomacy, international economic development or related fields.
  • Students must be between the ages of 20-25 on July 1, 2020.
  • Likewise, one must have demonstrated leadership potential outside of the classroom in the community, nation or region.
  • Further, have an academic adviser verify in writing the candidate’s English proficiency.
  • Also, have a valid international passport with a US visa if necessary by the time the program begins.

Students who have never been to the United States before are preferable usually, however, Hansen Leadership Institute encourages all qualified students to apply.

Students who are residents of the US should additionally meet the following requirements.

  • Upper-division undergraduate with 2 years of college/university or graduate student with a professional interest in international relations, diplomacy, international economic development or related fields.
  • Students must be between the ages of 20-25 on July 1, 2020.

How to apply for the Hansen Summer Exchange Program?

Candidates can submit an online application for the Fully Funded Hansen Summer Exchange Program. While submitting the application, the candidates must also provide the contact details of the academic advisor who can very English Proficiency. Also, the candidates must provide a letter of reference.

Deadline

Non-U.S. citizens may apply for the Hansen Summer Exchange Program until January 15, 2020. While the U.S. citizens can apply by March 15, 2020.
