Geneva Summer Schools at the University of Geneva calls candidates to apply for the Global Citizenship Education session. It is a summer school program in Switzerland that helps students to explore and sharpen their knowledge about Global Citizenship Education.

Propose

The program focuses on promoting interdisciplinary cooperation both in research and in teaching and will also bring together scholars, experts, and students from around the world. In addition to that, the program will serve as excellent preparation for professionals interested in further research or careers in international education. Furthermore, the program will prepare participants for research and action and will include meetings and discussions with professionals from a wide range of academic institutions and international organizations in Geneva and internationally.

Learning Outcomes 

At the end of the program, the participant will

  • Understand the history and theoretical foundations of Global Citizenship Education.
  • Develop the ability to create institutional projects in the area of Global Citizenship.
  • Gain the skills and knowledge necessary to set up research projects on Global Citizenship.
  • Prepare for a critical analysis of pedagogical projects in international, national and local contexts aiming to promote Global Citizenship Education.

Eligibility

This Global Citizenship Education summer school in Switzerland is pen to 20 – 25 highly qualified participants in the field of education studies, psychology, public policy, government affairs, or international relations. Moreover, candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in the field of education, psychology, social sciences or a related discipline for this program but the motivated candidates without a bachelor’s degree may also apply. The language of the program is English so the candidates must have a sufficient level of English for this program.

Program Timeline 

The program covers the following topics on the following days

  • 1st Day: History, Concepts, and Theories of Global Citizenship (Module 1)
  • 2nd Day: Research outcomes on Global Citizenship (Module 2)
  • 3rd Day: Learning Global Citizenship in universities and educational institutions (Module 3)
  • 4th Day: Case studies: how to build Global Citizenship competencies? (Module 4)
  • 5th: Action-research in universities, schools, international organizations and NGOs to promote Global Citizenship (Module 5)
