The Royal Society provides International Exchange Schemes offers a flexible platform for UK based scientists to interact with the best scientists around the world. Funds for a contribution towards travel, subsistence and research expenses can be requested for either a one-off short visit to explore opportunities for building lasting networks or for bilateral visits to strengthen emerging collaborations. This scheme does not support continued research activities between a UK applicant and a co-applicant who was a former colleague or PhD student or to support other existing or recent collaborations between the applicant and co-applicant. Rather, the scheme intends to stimulate new collaborations between scientists in the UK and overseas.
The Standard Programme is available for travel to/from all countries outside the UK. The funding available is dependent upon the length of the visit. Applicants may request:
You can apply for this Royal Society International Exchange Scheme if both you and the overseas co-applicant:
Collaborations should be based on a single project and travel can only take place between the UK and a country where the overseas collaborator is based. In the case of cost share applications, applicants must establish a relationship between both parties prior to making an application.
To apply for the Royal Society International Exchange Program, applicants must make an online submission. International Exchanges Scheme panel will initially review the applications with the most appropriate scientific expertise. Following this, the panel draws up a shortlist and the Panel Chair will make the final decision. Results are available approximately 4 months after the round closes.
It is a wonderful opportunity for the applicants wishing to apply for the International Exchange Program organized by the Royal Society. Applicants may apply for the program by no later than 30 May 2019.
