Cardiff University School of Physics and Astronomy calls students to apply for the Summer Research Internship for the year 2020. This internship program gives undergraduates from around the world the opportunity to conduct research with the Gravity Exploration Institute over the summer vacation. Successful applicants can typically spend up to eight weeks here in Cardiff conducting research with a group mentor.

Duration

Normally, the duration of the program normally four to eight weeks, but the timescale is flexible and can be decided on mutual agreement of the applicant and their mentor.

Research Topics

The possible research topics of Cardiff Summer Research Internship 2020 are

  • modeling binary black hole orbits and their gravitational wave emission
  • strong-field tests of gravity
  • the development of techniques for detecting gravitational waves from supernovae or from the inspiral of neutron-star and black-hole binaries.

Stipend

Candidates who undertake Cardiff University Summer Research Internship will be eligible to receive a subsistence allowance of £275 per week.

Who can apply?

The Cardiff University Summer Research Internship is open to undergraduates worldwide now completing their second, third or fourth year of study.
