Energy Programme Coordinator – Renewable Energy & Sustainability | São Tomé

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Project Leadership & Implementation
- Lead planning, execution, and monitoring of renewable energy projects, ensuring alignment with UNDP/government standards.
- Oversee budgets, procurement, and partnerships, integrating gender equality and sustainability.
- Strategic Partnerships & Resource Mobilization
- Build alliances with government, NGOs, and private sector stakeholders to scale impact.
- Support fundraising and project development efforts.
- Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting
- Track progress using data-driven frameworks, conduct field visits, and manage risks.
- Prepare donor reports and ensure operational/financial closure.
- Knowledge Sharing & Advocacy
- Organize capacity-building initiatives and document lessons learned.
- Promote UNDP’s work through knowledge platforms and stakeholder engagement.
Supervision: Reports to the CESA Portfolio Manager and Energy Specialist, collaborating with the UNDP Country Office.

Required Skills and Experience of Energy Programme Coordinator
Education:
- Advanced degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or a related field.
- Bachelor’s degree (with 2 additional years of experience) in the same fields will be considered in lieu of a Master’s.
Experience:
- 5 years (with Master’s) or 7 years (with Bachelor’s) of progressive experience in project management, monitoring & evaluation, and advisory services at national/international levels.
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience in renewable energy project management.
- Proven experience in resource mobilization, stakeholder engagement (UN, government, NGOs, private sector), and capacity-building methodologies.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, web-based management systems, and data analysis tools.
- Excellent communication skills for diverse audiences (donors, partners, policymakers).
Languages:
- Fluent in English (required for reporting).
- Fluent in Portuguese (mandatory).
- French proficiency (an asset).
