Cardiff University Summer Research Internship programme gives undergraduates from around the world the opportunity to research with the Gravity Exploration Institute over the summer vacation.

Successful applicants may spend up to eight weeks in Cardiff researching with a group mentor.

Eligibility

It is open to all nationalities

Also, the applicant must be pursuing an undergraduate degree completing their second, third or fourth year of study.

Research topics

Possible research topics include:

• modelling binary black hole orbits and their gravitational wave emission
• strong-field tests of gravity
• Also, the development of techniques for detecting gravitational waves from supernovae or the inspiral of neutron-star and black-hole binaries.

Duration and fees

The duration is normally four to eight weeks. However, the timescale is flexible based on the mutual agreement of the applicant and their mentor.

The interns gain an allowance of £275 per week.
