IBA is accepting applications for a legal internship in Washington’s office. IBA is the world’s largest organisation of law societies, bar associations, law firms and also, individual lawyers.

The London office of  IBA has 4 intake times each year where the minimum time requirement for the internship is 3 months. The intake is for fall (Aug/Sept-Dec); Spring (Jan-April/May) and lastly Summer (Mat-Aug). However, the application is on a rolling basis.

Paid Internship in New York CFR- 

Education

The applicant for IBA legal internship must be one of the following to apply for the internship:

  1. undergraduate law student
  2. postgraduate law student
  3. newly qualified lawyer at the International Bar Association’s office

Role of an Intern

  • Developing concept papers and grant proposals in the field of international development
  • researching & writing remarks for conferences
  • also, assisting with logistics, media solicitations, panellist selection and support for conferences and round tables;
  • organising and contributing to IBA reports & internal research databases and analysing evolving trends in the legal profession or international development
  • In addition, assisting with expense logging and financial tracking, document creation, meeting preparation, recording of minutes, and outreach.

Required skills and Experience

  • Excellent research, writing and analysis skill
  • strong interpersonal oral and written skills
  • In addition, self-motivation and emotional intelligence are required.
  • mastery of computer/internet-based research  is also required
  • experience in organising or contributing to workshops or seminars
  • experience abroad is an advantage
  • fluency in a foreign language is also an advantage

IBA contacts all the selected applicants after 4-6 weeks of the deadline of application.

Furthermore, the applicants will most probably join the job after 5-6 months of sending the application.

Tips for International Applicants
