The United Nations Department of Operational Support announces Internship Opportunities in Valencia, Spain. The Internship vacancy is in the field of Information System and Communication Technology. The duty station will be in the Service and Information Security Management Section (SISMS) section within the Service for Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies (SGITT). The internship is unpaid and full-time where interns are liable to serve five days per week (37.5 hours). The department is seeking interns to start as soon as possible for a maximum period of six months.
Responsibilities
The intern position will be responsible for the following tasks
- Assisting team colleagues and other stakeholders in activities related to IT monitoring, IT service management and IT security.
- Similarly, assisting in the preparation and drafting of SOP and other documentation related to the unit’s area of responsibility.
- Supporting in the preparation and drafting of reports and other documentation related to the unit’s area of responsibility.
- Assisting with the organization of sections, customer meetings, and presentations.
- Also, supporting the coordination and schedule of activities related to IT monitoring, IT service management and IT security.
- Reporting, analyzing data as well as communicating progress using approved reporting templates.
- Furthermore, performing other duties as required.

Requirements
- Enrollment in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation.
- In addition to that, computer literate in standard software applications.
- Keen interest in the work of the United Nations and also should a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter
- Ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand as well as be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
- Experience in the area of IT, Engineering or Business is desirable but not a necessity.
- Fluency in the English language. Furthermore, knowledge of additional UN official language is desirable.
