The internship is UNPAID and full-time.

Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned.

Responsibilities

The Intern will support the development and implementation of a communications plan and approach for the Department of Management, Strategy, Policy and Compliance. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Laying out newsletters, reports, and other communications products
  • Also, drafting articles, blogs, announcements and other supplementary materials
  • Supporting event coordination and outreach activities
  • Likewise, designing visual content of the Department’s communication with internal and external stakeholders, using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator or InDesign
  • Designing posters, banners, fliers, infographics and other communications materials following the Department’s visual identity
  • Also, research content for printed and online material
  • Furthermore, helping with the maintenance and value additions to the internal and external websites

  • Speaks and writes clearly and effectively
  • Listens to others, correctly interprets messages from others and responds appropriately
  • Asks questions to clarify, and exhibits interest in having two-way communication

Qualifications for Intern – Public Information at the UN

Education

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Program, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

  • At the time of application: (a) enrolling in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);

(b)Also,  enrolling in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent) in Communications, Journalism, International Relations, Public Administration or related field; or

(c) Likewise, have graduated with a university degree as defined in (a) and (b) above.

. Be computer literate in standard word processing and software applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel or similar; Be proficient in standard office automation equipment scanner, printer, etc.).

3. Have demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the United Nations Charter.

4. Furthermore, have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views
