An international non-government non-profitable organization International Crisis Group invites candidates to participate in a voluntary internship in assist with its Project Director and Analysts in their daily activities. This internship is suitable for candidates seeking to gain experience in a fast-paced, international NGO working to prevent war and shape peace worldwide.

This internship offers an excellent opportunity for someone to learn about conflict analysis and advocacy work and gain valuable experience in a high-profile international NGO. Moreover, the internship is expected to start in April and will be based in the organization’s Nairobi office.

Responsibilities 

  • Monitoring political developments in the Central Africa region via online sources.
  • Providing assistance editing reports and briefings on conflict issues, and also other documents produced by Africa program staff.
  • Also, preparing advocacy and research materials and attending meetings with/on behalf of the Crisis Group staff.
  • Assisting with carrying out weekly press reviews and composing monthly situation reports.
  • Furthermore, performing other administrative tasks as required.

Requirements 

  • Must be a master student and/or candidate with a recent undergraduate or graduate degree in international relations, political science or related fields.
  • Excellent verbal and written command of French and English. In addition to that, knowledge of the local language will be an advantage.
  • Research and organizational skills a well as an ability to summarise information.
  • Proven research skills in international relations or a similar subject, conflict analysis or human rights work.
  • An ability to deal confidently and swiftly with a variety of demanding tasks and also must have an interest in and knowledge of the Central Africa region.

International Crisis Group 

The International Crisis Group (ICG; also known as the Crisis Group) is a transnational non-profit, non-governmental organization founded in 1995. Moreover, it is a think tank, used by policymakers and academics, performing research and analysis on global crises. ICG has described itself as “working to prevent wars and shape policies that will build a more peaceful world”. Furthermore, it has been characterized by right-wing organizations and publications as “left-leaning” or “liberal”.
