Call for Internship for Economic Affairs at Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific in China. The deadline for this application is 5th November 2021.

Description:

The mandate of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) is to promote regional cooperation for inclusive economic and social development in the Asian and Pacific region. Also, ESCAP’s role as a regional development arm of the United Nations Secretariat is to support its membership, through its analytical, normative and technical cooperation, to respond to the development priorities and changing needs of the Asian and Pacific region.

Responsibilities

Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual’s background; the intern’s assigned office as well as the internship period. Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Assistance in drafting and preparing official documents
  • Also, attending and summarizing conferences and meetings
  • Assistance during conferences
  • Likewise, document, legal and internet research
  • Compiling statistics
  • Furthermore, providing administrative support to ongoing projects

Competencies

The United Nations Core Competencies include:

  • Communication: Ability to draft clearly and concisely, good written and oral language skills.
  • Also, teamwork: Good interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively with colleagues from different national and cultural backgrounds to achieve organizational goals.
  • Client Orientation: Considers all those to whom services are provided to be ‘clients’ and seeks to see things from clients’ point of view.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English  for the Internship Program.
