Details

Three internship positions are open in the Civil Society Unit (CSU), Office of the Director (OD), Division for Policy Analysis and Public Affairs (DPA), UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).

Further Details About the Internship

  • All internships are for an initial period of four months with the opportunity of an extension to six months.
  • Interns will start working remotely from their country of residence until such time that the COVID situation allows safe travel and in-person internship.
  • The internship is UNPAID as well as full-time.
  • Interns work five days per week (40 hours).
  • Moreover, they will be under the supervision of a staff member in the office.

Responsibilities

The intern shall undertake the following duties:

  1. Contribute to the implementation of Programme GLOU68 “Engagement with Non-Governmental Stakeholders on Anti-Corruption, Drugs and Crime Prevention”.
  2. Attend and take notes at events/meetings/conferences
  3. Also, assist in the preparation of the CSU activities and events
  4. Conduct research
  5. In addition, perform other tasks as necessary.

  3. Develops clear goals that are consistent with agreed strategies
  4. identifies priority activities and assignments
  5. monitors and adjusts plans and actions as necessary

Education

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

  1. be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher)
  2. be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent)
  3.  have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within one year of graduation
  4. Also, be computer literate in standard software applications

Moreover, no working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advanced course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.

Languages

Fluency in English is necessary for the internship program. Knowledge of Arabic, French or Spanish is an advantage.

Internship Financial Notice

Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs, as well as arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses, are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.

  2. Graduation Date (When will you graduate or when did you graduate from the programme?)
  3. List the IT skills and programmes that you are proficient in
  4.  List your top three areas of interest
  5. Explain why you are the best candidate for this specific internship
  6. Explanation of your interest in the United Nations Internship Programme.

In your online Personal History Profile, be sure to include all past work experiences, IT skills, and three references. Also, note that the UN will only contact shortlisted candidates.
