Duration: 6 months
Expected start date: 1 April 2020
- The intern involves in day to day tasks but is also entrusted with specific longer and shorter-term projects. I
- Additionally, the intern must keep learning on his/her given tasks and find out more about UNHCR’s mandate and activities.
Duties
The intern will do the following duties
- Support protection team members in individual cases’ management
- Also, draft replies and respond to inquiries submitted by refugees and asylum seekers as well as NGOs;
- Additionally, conduct legal and factual research and collect information on a wide range of protection topics and on countries of origin;
- Also, Perform other tasks as required.
Qualifications
The candidate must have the following qualifications for the Internships at UNHCR in Switzerland
- He/she should be a recent graduate or current student in a graduate/undergraduate school program from a university or higher education facility accredited by UNESCO.
- Additionally, the intern should have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in a field of law, political science or related studies and a particular interest in refugee protection and human rights. Persons at an advanced stage of their studies may apply if they bring along other relevant experience.
- Furthermore, he/she must have an excellent knowledge of German, French, and English.
- Moreover, he/she should have research experience.
- Likewise, the candidate should have strong drafting skills.
- Moreover, Practical experience with Swiss asylum and international refugee law is an asset.
