The application period for the 2019 UN Young Professionals Programme (YPP) exams is now open! The Young Professionals Programme (YPP) is a recruitment initiative for talented, highly qualified professionals to start a career as an international civil servant with the United Nations Secretariat. It consists of an entrance examination and professional development programmes once successful candidates start their career with the UN.

Benefits

The base salary, which is determined by the grade of the post specified in the job opening and by the existence of any dependants, is the same throughout the United Nations system.

Annual net base salary ranges approximately in US$:

  • 37,000 – 80,000 for entry-level professionals (P1 – P3)
  • 67,000 – 106,000 for mid-career professionals (P4 – P5)
  • 95,000 – 123,000 for senior-level professionals (D1 – D2)

Eligibilities

  • The YPP examination is held once a year and is open to nationals of countries participating in the annual recruitment exercise.
  • The list of participating countries is published annually and varies from year to year.
  • have the nationality of a participating country.
  • hold at least a first-level university degree relevant for the exam subject you are applying for.
  • be 32 or younger in the year of the examination.
  • be fluent in either English or French.
